Security Chain Company WS1614 Whitestar Alloy Tire Traction Chain - Set of 2
Security Chain Whitestar Alloy Tire Traction Chain is designed to be used on passenger vehicles, including pickups and SUVs, also has the easiest installation and best all-around traction performance. It has been adapted to keep up with the ever increasing demand for products that can operate the typically small clearances allowed around the drive tires on today's cars and light trucks. All Whitestar Alloy size meets the SAE class "S" clearance requirements. The cross chain link is made of manganese alloy steel, allowing them to be shorter and lighter than other tire chains. Its lighter weight helps reduce the fly-off during operation and the shorter links provide more gripping points than conventional chains. The reduced size and weight of the links also helps it to be more durable than other chains. Less mass equals less wear on both the chain and the road surface.
I somehow ended up in Midvale, UT. Pulled into the "National 9 Discovery Inn" (Good lord, where'd they get *that* clunky name?) and got a good rate on a room, and checked in. Apparently this was part of some chain at one time, because in the shower was this tile. I've never seen this logo before. The "boy-n-bear" was also on the outside of the office too.
When I was checking out in the morning, I joked to the desk clerk that she was lucky I didn't have a spare tile with me, or I'd have replaced this with that and had me a neat souvenir! She laughed and said that soon I could have all of them I wanted... they were about to undergo a complete remodel soon. AUUGH! Visions of me carrying off of boxes and boxes of these flashed into brain.
If you live near here and see they're remodeling, get me a few of these tiles, wouldja?
Oh, and this place gets about 50% totally crappy reviews online. My room was fine. A little tired, but fine. "They" also complain this is a bad area, but I didn't notice it. The desk staff (both evening and morning) were pleasant too. (shrug)
(Danger: rant ahead!) I sometimes think that many of the folks that write online hotel/motel reviews are candy-assed punks who expect everything to be like "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous", and I further think they should pull their heads out of their asses, or just stick to saying at places that charge $200+/night. Then they can write reviews complaining about how they didn't have any herbal kiwi & oatmeal body scrub in their room, or that the 300 thread count sheets were wrinkled. Christ. I hate crybabies, and I hate when people can't appreciate the roadside experience and make allowances for it. You're staying in a two star motel, but expect five star lodging? Then you'll bitch about the free breakfast? What did you expect, a chef to personally wait on you? Eggs benedict? I have actually seen reviews where people were bitching... I mean really bitching, because a motel has "tube TV" instead of plasmas or LCDs. OMFG! Come closer, so I can hit you in the forehead with this hammer, you whining, spoiled bitches. (Ok, rant over... you're safe now.)
Ford Focus review 2 of 7
With the optional 18-inch wheels, summer tires and firm suspension, the Ford Focus Titanium's ride and handling are comparable to expensive sports sedans. It's tight, confident and smoother than you should expect for under $30k. The personality is distinctly European, reminding me of BMW 3-series. No big surprise here, since the car was designed by Ford of Europe for production worldwide. Mine was made in Wayne, Michigan, but nearly identical cars are assembled in Germany and Russia. Noise, vibration and harshness, the hallmark of small Fords since the Model T, are conspicuously absent. By far, the weirdest thing about this car is the key, or lack thereof. It's a transmitter you hang on your key chain. When you walk up to the car, it does the radio-frequency thing and unlocks the doors. Sit down, buckle up, put your foot on the brake and press the on-off button: the car starts. It's weird. I keep fishing the "key" out of my pocket when I walk up to the car. Next time I drive the Miata I'm sure I'm going to buckle up with my keys in my pocket and start hunting for the on-off button. Doh!

These are the types of signs that appear at clearance and discount outlets.
Today was a sad day when I discovered that Caban is closing its doors. Not just the one in Vancouver, but all outlets across Canada.
Sure, a lot of their wares were overpriced. Sure they were an offshoot of Club Monaco. But they had some cool stuff, like comfy excellent towels, fine glassware, good bed sheets, the list goes on.
What shocked me most though, is that Caban is sporting these signs throughout their store. Leaves a bit of a stain on such a nicely designed and crafted chain.
